I have enjoyed each of the books in Jennie Goutet’s Clavering Chronicles series and have been looking forward to reading George’s story。 Such a fun book this was! I loved learning more about his personality, his kindness (which had been shown a bit with his consideration towards helping Philippa in her book), but most of all, learning about the one who would be his perfect match。 And Lady Alice was certainly suitable for the role! She's poised, kind, caring of her close ones (though there are few of those with her being the daughter of a Duke), and has taken the decision to not marry, which of course was an intriguing aspect for George。 :) I loved their conversations and easy banter, and even though it was clear there was only ever going to be one winner in their wager, the author made it hard, at least for me, to simply take one side over the other, rather finding things that I agreed with sometimes with one and sometimes with the other。 Still, I enjoyed how it served to further their acquaintance, as well as to grow and start seeing the other in a different light。 Oh, and I also enjoyed the fact that the author delved into the topic of mistresses。 It's definitely one that I haven't found so often in Sweet Regency books, but I loved how she presented the different POVs through both George and Lord Anley's characters, the impact and consequences such a decision could have for not only the man but also their family, and also how it ended up enriching the story, and its outcome, because of it。As for it being the final book in a series, I loved how the author gave us an update on previous characters in her trademark style, especially so concerning Philippa and her husband Jack (so glad to learn of his advancing in his political career!)。 Of course, there are also the characters that refuse to change (like Maria), but I especially enjoyed learning about Lucius and Selena's family, as well as seeing him play out his role of older brother perfectly。Overall, a satisfying conclusion to a fantastic Sweet Regency Romance that will always hold a special place in my heart。 Perfect for fans of the genre and/or the author。 I'm seriously looking forward to her next series! ~ 5 stars! 。。。more

Are your actions above reproach because of who you are or because of why you do them? And who decides when you are old enough to be responsible? Is it a date on a calendar or the lessons you have learned? And finally, when, how, and where do you ask for forgiveness and give it?Of course all of this takes place in the glittering balls and parties of the Ton in a very rich London with detailed descriptions of clothes and locations。 What would one of this author’s books be without a fair amount of witty dialogue! There’s even a dash to Greta Green to liven everything up。 As with all of the author’s books, I fell in love with The Sport of Matchmaking in the first chapter。 I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! 。。。more

Bonnie Brien,
I adored this divine Regency romance! This is my favorite book by Jennie Goutet, and I’ve loved all her books。 Definitely give this one a try and then go to her backlist。 In this book, Lady Alice and Mr。 George Clavering are both completely uninterested in marriage。 That is, until they meet each other! Matchmaking, betting, scandal, pride, romance, and even a masquerade combine to make this a delightful, satisfying, and wholesome romance。 Thank you to the author and publisher for the advance cop I adored this divine Regency romance!
